Between welcoming our SS13 samples (in a fashion that rivals a new parent welcoming his firstborn) to receiving boxes and boxes of AW12 threads (just in time to dress gypsies everywhere for the fast-approaching change of season) – These past few weeks at the Loft have been the kind that leave your head spinning, wondering what exactly you’ve just witnessed. As we rearrange the old and make room for the new, well, we can’t help but become a bit nostalgic. Watching the progression of the Gypsy line, to see where we started and what we’ve become leaves us a bit misty, and a lot inspired. Naturally this led to an impromptu dress up moment / photo sesh. Each of us choosing a season, adorning ourselves in the threads that spoke to us the most, entering the land of Gypsy, and of course, pausing for the camera.

Here’s what you get when you leave the Gypsy Team alone in a sea of their favorite clothes. What’s your favorite Gypsy look so far? And how excited are you to see what we’ll give you next??

Take me to a place where you can swim in a sea of shoes, where fashion is toast, a place where you can lie in green fields and have a lust for life. Take me to blogger heaven.

This past week at WWD MAGIC we were treated to a taste of blogger heaven in the Gypsy Junkies booth. Long legs and wicked style were in abundance, and the Gypsy Gals snapped some ‘totes amaze’ pictures with the girls. From the fierce Bebe Zeva (Fated to be Hated) to the effortlessly cool Rachel Schwartzmann (The Style Line), we were honored to receive such love from the digital influencers of MAGIC!

While it’s high fashion that sets the tone and trends for each fashion season, it’s street style that makes it all come to life. It’s on the streets where each trend, each look, each unique garment gets mixed and matched in ways that recreate fashion and tell us a story about our current times. As Bill Cunningham, fashion photographer for the New York Times, states matter-of-factly,  ”The best fashion show is definitely on the street. Always has been, always will be.” From music festivals to coffee shops, from Milan to Chicago, here we take a look at some of our favorite looks found on the streets this summer … Because after all, sidewalks make for the best runways.

We officially have a new blog crush: The Cult of Style. This sick blog was started by a group of fashion designers and buyers from places such as Urban Outfitters and Free People. They each contribute their inspirations, favorite lookbooks and editorials, music and DIYs .. aaannnnd, they just featured us! Check out these photos they featured from our SS13 lookbook. Shot by the talented Daniel Collopy, and styled by yours truly, we’re super proud of them. We’re so glad the genius minds behind The Cult of Style love our photos – we hope you do too!

Some of our Gypsy Staff sat down to give you a peak into their favorite staples from the AW 12 Collection.  From tops, to bottoms, to rompers .. we love it all! With a collection like this, how do you choose just one or two pieces? Pretty impossible. But Suzy and Raming somehow were able to narrow it down for us. Read below to see what they had to say, and be sure to stay tuned for the rest of our staff picks!

Ziggy Disco Romper

“I really think this is a timeless piece of art. Rompers come and go, but this fabric is just amazing. It will never die. Paired with the correct accessories,  you can take this outfit from the office to a night out on the town. It would be amazing with a black blazer and a long necklace. And once you take off the blazer … fabulous!” -Raming

Wildheart Bowler Shirt

“The color blocking on this shirt is genius. And the fit is impeccable. From the front it is so simple and elegant, and then when you turn around there’s just this added pop of color as a bonus. It’s the perfect balance.” -Raming

Nighthawk Bells

“These take me back to the 60′s, and I’m sure if I was alive back then, I would’ve worn them then too! And the color is so in this season .. how could you say no?” -Suzy

Saigon Side Button Sweater

“The buttons down the side are out of control, and the oversized fit is SO on point. And the winter white shade it comes in … I can’t. I’m obsessed.” -Suzy

Until next time,

Inspiration comes from everywhere … a flea market, a piece of music you love, a fabric, a person … the list goes on. But one of the oldest, truest forms of fashion inspiration comes from flipping through the glossy pages of a magazine. From adding it to a mood board, pasting it to your wall, or filing away for a later date, editorials are one of the most expressive and strongest forms of fashion inspiration. They are art in and of itself. We came across this one the other day, and we just had to share. Titled “Freedom Child,” Corinne Day captures Kate Moss in the most beautiful, dreamy light, creating one of our favorite photo shoots of all time. It also doesn’t hurt that Kate Moss is our favorite fashion icon and, dare we say – there’s more than a little gypsy influence gracing each of these photographs. Running in the pages of February 2002 Vogue UK, this one is from the archives.

We’ve mentioned her before, but one of our fave bloggers, Julie Sariñana (Sincerely, Jules),  just did another post wearing yours truly (she’s rockin’ The Goldie Cape Tunic) … so we just had to give her another shout out!! This girl is the complete package. She’s super sweet and has killer style to boot! She mixes California cool with just the right amount of grunge, and she does so flawlessly. What can we say? We’re sincerely obsessed. Check out these images and try and tell us you don’t have a girl crush. Please.
